{"id":1080,"date":"2012-10-31T14:24:10","date_gmt":"2012-10-31T13:24:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/locallost.net\/?p=1080"},"modified":"2012-10-31T14:24:46","modified_gmt":"2012-10-31T13:24:46","slug":"wdc-wd1002faex-00z3a0-with-intel-corporation-82801irioih-ich9rdodh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/locallost.net\/?p=1080","title":{"rendered":"WDC WD1002FAEX-00Z3A0 with Intel Corporation 82801IR\/IO\/IH (ICH9R\/DO\/DH)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear lazy web,<\/p>\n<p>Are there any known incompatibilities between Western Digital SATA disks (WD1002FAEX \/ Firmware version\u00a005.01D05) and ICH9 SATA controlers?<\/p>\n<p>I have a remote server (don&rsquo;t have physical access to it)\u00a0with an ICH9 SATA controler and two different disks \u00a0in a MD RAID1 volume: one Hitachi and one WD.<\/p>\n<p>The problem is that I have poor write performance and iostat is always reporting a 100% utilization (%util field) on the Western Digital disk, while the\u00a0Hitachi (HDT721010SLA360) does not reports such high %util usages.<\/p>\n<p>The WD disk as been changed with another (same model) WD disk, and I&rsquo;m still having 100% utilization on this disk.<\/p>\n<p>Could there be an incompatibility between theses WD disks and ICH9 controlers?<\/p>\n<p>Initialy the server was running with two Hitachi disks, and one of them failed, so it was replaced by these WD disk.
